Why I Made MeetKeith.com

Designing, building, and launching this website in May 2024 was a fun endeavor and will be an ongoing passion project for me that I intend to contribute to on a regular basis. I have no growth aspirations for this project and don’t really mind if only a few people see it. But hey, if you’re reading this then you’re seeing it, so here are the 5 reasons that motivated me to launch MeetKeith.com.

I Love Building on the Web

The primary reason I launched MeetKeith.com is simply to fuel my passion for building on the web. Frankly, I love everything about it. I love the process of thinking about what you want to make, figuring out how to create it, crafting the solution in visual form, and then bringing that form to life.

Celebrate Projects While Showing the Work

When I talk to other web marketers, one thing I like to do is ask them to tell me about a favorite project they worked on. When you frame that question as “favorite” and not “successful”, people will tell you a lot more than how it performed. They will explain in great detail, and without much prodding, the steps they took to get there. So one of the things I wanted to do with MeetKeith.com is share a portfolio of my favorite projects along with the steps that I took to get them launched.

Share How I Think and Work

In addition to detailed walkthroughs of projects that I’ve worked on, I wanted to share some insights on what it’s like to work with me and how I solve problems. Also, I have views about web marketing that some, or perhaps many, would find to be unconventional and bordering on contrarian. Even if you don’t agree with me on these views, and even if I am wrong, it can still be interesting to understand why I have them and how I arrived at them.

Write Better and Write More

While I think I’m already a decent writer, maybe even good in some areas like requirements writing, I’d like to get to a point where I feel confident in my ability to create high-quality content more quickly. Currently, I’m adjusting my writing way too much and too often have a tendency to ramble off onto tangents. One of the goals in building content for MeetKeith.com is improving my ability to write impactfully and in the fewest words possible.

Learn New Platforms and Tools

Another motivating factor for me in launching thie site was to force myself to learn or improve my existing knowledge of new products. For the site design, I used Figma, if for no other reason than being the defacto standard for web design. As for building the site, I wanted to use a no-code builder that I’d never used before that offers pixel level control and CMS functionality. And since I already know Webflow, I considered Wix, Framer, and Divhunt, and chose Framer.
